“It’s been quite a big change in my career,” says Laura, “Coming primarily from a criminal psychology and entertainment background (slight mix I know!) I was certainly geared up for any challenges, the first of which was figuring out where the kettle was!”
Laura is loving her new job. “The place is buzzing and everyone is brilliant,” she says. “I’ve also met some fantastic clients and candidates, and I feel touched by some of their stories, especially those who’ve been out of work for some time, its great to be able to help”
Laura says that although it’s her priority to place candidates in suitable positions, she also makes a point in getting to know them personally. “I want to make them feel comfortable from the moment they contact us,” she says.
For Laura, a typical working day at Humber Recruitment consists of firstly a strong brew to prepare her for the busy day ahead. She then spends time resourcing for various positions, dealing with clients, and telephoning applicants. “I’m a bit of a chatterbox,” she says, “But hopefully this puts applicants at ease.”
We asked her what she loves most about her new job. “Working with such an amazing team, of course!” she replies. “With such a mix of friendly and fun characters, we are all hard working but love to have a giggle too, what other recruitment agency would anybody want to use? I feel so lucky to come to work every day, although its manic I love it and I get to work with my very own brand new ‘family’. Just making a difference to people’s lives is making me very happy.”
