Site Supervisor’s Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS) 2 day course
Who should attend?
The course is designed for those who have the capacity to take on, or who already have, supervisory responsibilities in the construction industry. As an ideal grounding for junior or first line managers, gangers, foreman and team leaders, it’s guaranteed to help develop a basic understanding of the associated health and safety duties required for the role.
On completion of the course, those attending will be able to identify occupational health problems within the construction industry and how supervisors should address them. Delegates will also understand the importance of following health and safety in the workplace, how to carry out risk assessments with the appropriate measures and the need for method statements, alongside the significance for both proactive and reactive monitoring. SSSTS also informs delegates on how to carry out effective site inductions, toolbox talks and how to identify bad practice in the workplace and the reasons to intervene.
Includes a basic understanding of the following processes and procedures:
- The Health and Safety at Work Act
- Specific site issues that challenge supervisors on a daily basis
- Effective toolbox talks
- Supervision of occupational health
- Behavioural safety
- Fire prevention & control
- Control of hazardous substances
- Construction design management regulations (CDM)
- Working at height
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Manual handling
- First aid
Featuring a highly interactive course with a continual assessment from case studies, individual and group presentations, and class discussions. The course culminates in a multiple-choice test with 25 questions in total.
2 Days – either over the weekend or during the working week.
Every 5 years with a refresher course.
