Humber Recruitment are proud to be recruiting for a valued client, based in Grimsby, for a Design Manager.

The ideal candidate will be/have:

Ability to work with confidential and sensitive data
Ability to work flexibly
Good IT skills
Able to communicate in a way which is appropriate to the audience and context
Relevant industry experience

The position includes, but is not limited to:

1. The effective management and motivation of your team including recruiting, training, departmental workload planning and staffing levels, delegation and control of processes and functions, developing optimum high-performance teams and superior workforce, key employee retention and development.

2. To empower employees to take responsibility for their jobs and goals and to delegate responsibility and expect accountability and regular feedback whilst maintaining overall department responsibility.

3. Have full operational control and management for the design team, offering advice, guidance, support and training.

4. Promote and maintain company policy with regard to health, safety and environmental systems, processes and procedures within your region of responsibility.

5. Ensure the company’s quality systems are adopted and maintained both internally and externally.

6. Plan, manage and coordinate all Design resources, supporting other divisions where necessary, ensure resource shortfalls or non-chargeable time is identified early and where necessary resolve resource issues.

7. To design, develop and oversee design employees in the development of new product innovations to specification, focusing on customer requirements, economy, safety, legal stipulations, reliability, quality, sustainability and the environment.

8. Creating innovate designs, drafts and sketches.

9. Enquire that design quality and design directives are followed.

10. To draw up plans and specifications for projects, using computer assisted engineering and design software in an accurate and timely manner and be able to explain design ideas clearly.

11. To accurately estimate material, labour, project costs and timescales.

12. Report progress and results to senior management.

13. Utilising our Improvement Register to comply with our continuous improvement strategy.

14. The professional representation of the Company when liaising with customers and suppliers.

15. Quality management working within existing and new quality systems and guidelines ensuring that work methods and standards are followed and met. The strict use of any required documentation within these systems.

16. To adhere and support Company and legal requirements with regard to health, safety and environmental systems, processes and procedures and to ensure that all team members are fully trained.

17. To maintain safe working practices to allow these to become part of the Company’s culture and to set high standards and deliver best practice management.

18. To consciously create a workplace culture that supports the Company’s vision, mission statement and core values.

19. Liaise and regularly communicate with other departments.
