Humber Recruitment are looking for a Welder/Fabricator for a client based in Grimsby.

The site is in Grimsby depot and this covers piling operations and concrete delivery solutions both internally and for external clients nationally. Responsible for the fabricating and welding of plant, tooling and casing steel parts. This involves internal and external work, supporting other departments and completing fabrication tasks to meet project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Making sure you are aware of the asset specifications you are working to for maintenance and repair. Providing input into these as part of developing or reviewing them periodically
  • Responsible for ensuring all works undertaken are to satisfactory quality
  • Completing inspection sign off sheets
  • Achieving an efficient output understanding workload and proactively working through tasks
  • Understanding, signing and working to all relevant RAM’s, task sheets and standards, informing your supervisor if the relevant information is not available.
  • Using all equipment, tools, plant in a safe manner
  • Ensure the correct use of dust extraction is being used correctly to minimise the levels of exposure
  • Ability to follow instructions given both verbally and in written form
  • Be aware of KPI’s and team goals understanding what they mean for the welding and fabrication team and working towards them
  • Implementing the damage process on tooling and casings items
  • Keep work areas tidy, locking away and storing equipment at the end of the day
  • Loading and unloading, utilising the fork truck so self-sufficient in feeding welding workshop to meet production targets and daily activities planned

Key Skills

  • Competence with MIG and MMA welding
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a construction environment.
  • Competent in using hand and power tools, eg. Hand grinder and cutting tools to prepare tooling and casing for welding repairs
  • Ability to identify and measure material
  • Competent in understanding and executing verbal instructions
  • Able to work in a team environment
  • Ability to read drawings, calipers, tape measures and angle gauges
  • Knowledge of machines and tools as part of the welding and fabricator role – including the profiler and plasma cutter
  • Knowledge of raw materials, welding and fabrication processes
  • Ability to manually handle equipment and materials as appropriate for the task

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Relevant up to date welder qualifications
  • NVQ Level 3 in Fabrication and Welding or C&G equivalent
  • CSCS Card (advantageous)
  • Abrasive wheels
  • FLT License (advantageous)
  • Extensive welding and fabrication background
