Humber Recruitment are resourcing a Group Purchasing Director on behalf of the Poluma Group to be based in Grimsby on a full-time basis.
The Opportunity
This is a senior, newly defined Group Purchasing Director role within a growing engineering-led group of companies. The position has been created to bring strategic control, consistency, and leadership to procurement across the Group.
The role sits at executive level and carries full responsibility for mechanical and electrical procurement, manpower coordination, supplier strategy, and the development of scalable procurement processes and teams.
The Role
You will take ownership of procurement across multiple operating businesses, moving the Group from localised buying to a structured, strategic, and commercially driven procurement function.
Key focus areas:
- Lead Group-wide procurement strategy across all companies
- Full accountability for mechanical & electrical procurement
- Establish supplier frameworks, pricing agreements, and commercial controls
- Support manpower procurement, labour planning, and scheduling alongside operations
- Design, implement, and embed procurement processes, governance, and reporting
- Build, lead, and develop a Group procurement team
- Operate as a senior commercial partner to MDs and the Board
What We’re Looking For
This role suits a senior procurement leader already operating at Head of Procurement/Procurement Director level, ideally within an engineering-led environment.
Essential experience:
- Senior-level procurement leadership within engineering, construction, industrial, energy, utilities, or manufacturing
- Strong hands-on background in mechanical and electrical procurement
- Experience operating across multi-site or group businesses
- Proven track record of introducing structure, processes, and controls
- Experience building or restructuring procurement teams
Personal profile:
- Commercially sharp, pragmatic, and delivery-focused
- Comfortable influencing at Board and senior leadership level
- Able to balance strategic change with operational realities
- Strong local or regional knowledge of suppliers advantageous
Location & Market Fit
- Grimsby / Humber based role with regular presence across Group sites
- Well suited to candidates currently commuting out of the region who want a senior local role
