Humber Recruitment are seeking a Coal Loader for one of our high-level clients based at Immingham Docks on a temporary to permanent basis.

 

Location: Immingham Docks
Hours: 40 hours per week (8 hours per day, Monday to Friday)
Reports To: Site Supervisor / Operations Manager

Job Summary

The Coal Loader is responsible for the safe and efficient loading, handling, and movement of coal within the yard or loading facility. The role involves operating loading equipment, ensuring vehicles are loaded correctly, maintaining a clean work area, and following all site health and safety procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Load coal into trucks, wagons, or containers using loading equipment or manual tools where required
  • Operate machinery such as front-end loaders, conveyors, or other material handling equipment (if trained and authorised)
  • Ensure accurate and safe loading according to weight limits and delivery requirements
  • Check vehicles before loading to ensure they are suitable and positioned correctly
  • Maintain the cleanliness of loading areas and remove coal spillages when necessary
  • Follow all site health, safety, and environmental procedures at all times
  • Report equipment faults, safety hazards, or operational issues to the supervisor
  • Assist with general yard duties, including stock management and site housekeeping
  • Work collaboratively with drivers, supervisors, and other site staff to maintain efficient operations

Working Hours

  • Monday – Friday
  • 8 hours per day (e.g., 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM with a break)
  • Occasional overtime may be required, depending on operational demand

Skills and Experience

  • Previous experience in material handling, yard work, or industrial loading is preferred but not essential
  • Ability to operate or willingness to learn to operate loading machinery
  • Good awareness of workplace safety practices
  • Physically fit and capable of manual handling tasks
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team

Qualifications (Desirable)

  • Forklift or loading shovel licence
  • Experience working in coal, aggregates, quarry, or similar industries
  • Basic health and safety training
