Humber Recruitment are resourcing a Cook for a new client of ours based in North East Lincolnshire on a part-time basis (07:30 to 12:30).
Responsible to – Nursery Manager
Responsible for – Assistant Cooks
The Nursery Cook is responsible for planning, preparing and serving nutritious, balanced meals and snacks for children, ensuring all allergy, dietary and cultural needs are met. Key duties will include ensuring high standards of all hygiene, health and safety are maintained at all times.
Hours
20 hours per week, must have flexibility in working hours. Available to work between the hours of 7.30 am and 5:00 pm.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for the planning, preparing and cooking of meals, amendment of menus and provision of dietary requirements.
- Supervise, direct and induct all kitchen staff in the methods of production and service and standards required at the unit, including organisation of work rotas and transportation of meals.
- Receive, store and monitor the ordering of supplies and equipment.
- Maintain accurate records as required, e.g. stock control, stock rotation, food orders, receipts, invoices, productivity, liaising on invoices with the Business Manager as appropriate.
- Maintain high levels of hygiene. Be responsible for all health and safety aspects in the kitchen area in accordance with the Code of Practice and legislation.
- Comply with Environmental Health standards
- Ensuring all accidents are recorded and reported immediately to the manager, and all the appropriate documentation is completed.
- Promote and maintain good relationships with all parents, children and staff, to ensure the quality and adequacy of the service is maintained within the established policies.
- Operate kitchen equipment and ensure it is maintained in a clean, operational condition, reporting requirements for repair/maintenance to the manager.
Requirements
- Must have an enhanced DBS check.
- Must hold and be willing to undertake a food hygiene/safety qualification.
