Humber Recruitment are resourcing a Maritime Recruiter for one of our newest clients based in Scarborough on a full-time basis.

 

Overview

The Maritime Recruiter plays an integral role in supporting the Crewing Manager to ensure that the company’s vessels are adequately manned. The Maritime Recruiter will also bear the responsibility of managing the entire recruitment lifecycle associated with recruiting seafarers for the Company’s vessels and providing support to ensure candidates and seafarers hold the required qualifications and certifications.

Roles and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Crewing Manager, The successful candidate will be responsible for:

Crew Sourcing & Recruitment

  • Actively identifies and recruits qualified candidates to full current vacancies and support future workforce planning.
  • Explores, develops, and maintains multiple recruitment channels and talent pathways to attract high-quality candidates.
  • Receives, files, and processes CVs and crewing leads, including management of the recruitment inbox and client’s LinkedIn in a timely and organized manner.
  • Reviews and verifies CVs, certificates, and credentials to confirm suitability for the required job roles and compliance with the client’s standards.
  • Conducts interviews, gathering detailed information regarding candidates’ experience, qualifications, and technical ability to assess overall suitability.
  • Shares shortlisted and qualified candidates with the Crewing Manager and Deputy Crewing Manager for final review and approval.

Onboarding & Compliance

  • Onboards approved crew members following the established company onboarding process.
  • Collects, verifies, and securely stores certificates, forms, and documents within the approved certificate-monitoring system.
  • Submit applications for Flag State Endorsements and Discharge Books, where applicable, for newly engaged crew.
  • Prepare and issue Seafarers’ Employment Agreements.
  • Communicates new crew appointments to the Crewing Supervisor and Accounts Department for payroll and operational coordination.

Crew Pool & Operational Readiness

  • Develops and maintains a rota and implementation plan ready for the arrival of new Vessels with the pre-approved length of training prior to sailing.
  • Maintains an active pool of prospective crew to support emergency crewing needs and rapid-response situations.
  • Providing ad hoc support as required.

Requirements

Desired Experience & Qualifications 

The ideal candidate should possess the following qualifications and/or experience:

  • Industry specific training can be provided, however an understanding or interest in the Maritime industry will be favourable
  • 1 – 2 years’ experience in Maritime recruitment / recruiting seafarers for vessels or 1 – 2 years’ experience in a commercial recruitment role.
  • Experience with CTV/OS-HSC crew recruitment and/or Offshore recruitment desirable but not essential.
  • Up to date knowledge of MLC and/or employment law including discrimination and equality legislation.
  • Up to date knowledge of seafarer recruitment processes, required seafarer documentation and certifications.
  • Strong understanding of strategic needs and a proactive ability to fulfil requisitions with minimal supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrated experience with developing strong stakeholder relationships (both internally and externally).
  • IT proficient with experience using Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent time management and organisational skills.
  • Candidates with a CIPD Level 3 or experience in HR/talent acquisition would also be considered.

Working Location

  • Scarborough – ability to reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred).

Schedule

  • Monday to Thursday (8:30 am – 5:00 pm), Friday (8:30 am – 2:30 pm)
