Humber Recruitment are resourcing an Asset Coach (Housing Related Support) for one of our clients based in Grimsby on a temporary 6-week contract.

 

Service: PTS (Person-led, Transitional, Strengths-based) Service
Responsible to: PTS Service Manager
Location: Grimsby

Job Purpose

The job of the Asset Coach is:

  • To assist people in moving through challenging transitions so they can take control of their lives and thrive within their community
  • To build one-to-one relationships with individuals to help them identify and nurture their strengths, passions, interests and inter-dependence with the wider community
  • To challenge a broken system and make changes that will help people thrive

The goal of the service is that young people will strengthen their sense of identity, build their confidence and self-worth, and connect with the community outside of the homelessness sector and statutory services.

Coaching activities

In line with PTS Values and Ethos, the Asset Coach:

  • Works on a 1-1 basis with individuals, providing a personalised, strength-based coaching approach with people experiencing difficulties which include, but are not limited to, the impact of past and present experiences of trauma; mental and physical wellbeing issues; difficulties with motivation and engagement; housing and tenancy management issues; difficulties safeguarding self or others; and engagement with statutory services.
  • Works with individuals to overcome and challenge the systemic barriers they may face in achieving their desired
  • Recognises and articulates the effects of a failing system on an individual and works with each person to help them identify and dismantle the internal obstacles that hold them back
  • Develops positive relationships within local communities and brokers opportunities that nurture and develop the talents and abilities of each
  • Assists individuals in building up new and positive friendships and community networks that provide new opportunities for people to develop their talents and
  • Works with individuals to find their own personal motivation and hope for the future as they take control of their lives within their
  • Engages in individual as well as group reflection within the client and the wider PTS network in order to promote a continued critical assessment of the PTS movement and its delivery, and to be a critical friend to the client internally as well
  • Supports young people to meet the physical, emotional and social needs of children and dependants and to safeguard their wellbeing
  • Ensures that safeguarding concerns are appropriately reported in a timely way, recorded, and followed up to conclusion; escalating concerns and challenging decisions where necessary both within and external to the organisation.
  • Takes positive steps to ensure own health and safety and the health and safety of others, adhering to H&S-related policies, including lone working policy and procedure
  • Supports young people to understand and manage risk and keep themselves and others safe
  • Reports any incidents following the client’s internal reporting procedures and ensures records are kept up to date at all times
  • Where time and skills enable this, contribute to social media/blogs to promote the aims of the Personal Transitions Service and /or to reflect on and promote the work of the PTS

Administration Requirements

  • Understand the importance of record keeping and ensure the accurate and timely recording of all required information regarding each person accessing the coaching service in the manner set down by the organisation
  • Be highly organised, effectively planning workload; daily, weekly, and monthly tasks; and anticipating deadlines without the need for prompts
  • Ensure records are strengths-based and capture the young person’s voice as well as your own. Understand and capture the young person’s experience and expert view of their own situation
  • Where relevant, share information regarding the coaching activities with colleagues inside and external to the client, in a secure manner, in accordance with the client’s data protection and confidentiality policies
  • Provide regular reporting of data as required by the service or as requested from time to time by managers, including statistics, data re the needs and views of people accessing the service

  • Undertake training and engage in practice development activities as required, and in addition, are expected to further their personal professional development on their own initiative and in their own time
  • Work in support of one another and contribute readily to the success of the team, the service, and the wider organisation
  • Demonstrate good, open and timely communication with staff members across the organisation
  • Take a lead role in specialist areas of work that impact young people, for example, prevention, CSE, CCE / GRAFT, immigration & asylum, domestic abuse, etc

Essential Desirable Assessed through
Experience
At least 12 months of experience working in a paid or voluntary capacity within one or more of the following fields:

Criminal Justice System; Social work; Youth work; Community development; Mental health; Substance misuse; Domestic abuse; Homelessness
