Industrial Services Supervisor

Humber Recruitment are currently resourcing an Industrial Services Supervisor for a high-level client of ours based in South Killingholme on an initial 12-month basis.

We are looking for an experienced Industrial Services Supervisor to join our client’s refinery team.

This is a hands-on, field-based supervisory role where you will coordinate industrial services, maintenance activities and contractors across a busy refinery environment. You will be responsible for making sure work is carried out safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards, while supporting the wider maintenance and operations teams.

We’re particularly interested in people with experience in industrial services, maintenance, industrial cleaning, high-pressure water jetting, tanker operations, waste management, petrochemical, chemical, power generation or other complex industrial environments.

You don’t necessarily need experience in every activity listed below. If you have strong field supervision and HSE experience and are comfortable working in a demanding industrial environment, we’d like to hear from you.

What You’ll Be Doing

As an Industrial Services Supervisor, you’ll be responsible for the safe and effective delivery of field activities, including:

• Supervising contractors and work groups carrying out activities across the site.
• Coordinating industrial cleaning, catalyst handling, high-pressure water jetting, drain cleaning, tanker/gulper operations and waste disposal activities.
• Ensuring contractors and site personnel work safely and in accordance with agreed procedures.
• Checking that permits, risk assessments, method statements, COSHH/MSDS requirements and other safety controls are followed.
• Supporting the Supervisor with day-to-day field activities and providing cover when required.
• Taking responsibility for the day-to-day running of the catalyst shed and yard.
• Taking responsibility for the running of the jet bay.
• Working closely with Maintenance Supervisors, Schedulers and Area Planners to ensure work is properly planned and delivered.
• Supporting improvements to preventative maintenance activities and identifying opportunities to improve how work is carried out.
• Carrying out minor maintenance activities and supporting Operations with minor maintenance work.
• Ensuring work is completed to the required quality and that appropriate QA/QC documentation is maintained.
• Helping resolve problems in the field and ensuring issues are escalated and addressed promptly.

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for someone who is confident working in the field, can lead contractors effectively and takes safety seriously.

Essential experience and skills

• Experience supervising contractors, teams or work groups in an industrial or operational environment.
• Experience working within a strong HSE culture and following safe systems of work.
• Good understanding of permits, risk assessments, method statements and other workplace safety controls.
• Experience in plant maintenance, industrial services, industrial cleaning or a similar field-based environment.
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Strong organisational and time-management skills.
• Good problem-solving ability and a practical, task-focused approach.
• Comfortable using Microsoft Office.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Ability to work at height and enter confined spaces.
• IOSH training or equivalent HSE training.

Experience that would be advantageous

You don’t need to have experience in every area, but knowledge of any of the following would be beneficial:

• High-pressure water jetting.
• Catalyst handling.
• Tank and vessel cleaning.
• Tanker and gulper operations.
• Waste handling and disposal.
• Refinery or petrochemical operations.
• Chemical, power generation or other high-hazard industrial environments.
• SAP or similar maintenance management systems.
• Contractor management and contract terms and conditions.

Previous refinery experience is advantageous, but we’re also interested in candidates from other complex industrial environments who have strong field supervision and safety experience.

What Success Looks Like

You’ll help the client deliver safe, reliable and efficient field services across the refinery.

Your performance will be measured through areas including:

• Safety and permit compliance.
• Preventative maintenance (PPM) compliance.
• Schedule compliance.
• Quality of completed work.
• Quality of QA/QC documentation.
• Reduction in rework.
• Effective management of contractors and field activities.

Working Environment

This is a hands-on, site-based position within a refinery environment. You’ll spend significant time in the field and must be comfortable working outdoors and around industrial plant, including working at height and entering confined spaces where required.
