Humber Recruitment are resourcing an Account Manager (Flow Control) for a brand-new client of ours based in Scunthorpe & South Yorkshire on a full-time basis.

 

Main accountabilities

This list is not exhaustive, and the post holder will be expected to undertake other duties as specified by their manager.

Key Activities: Standards of Performance
1. Health and Safety

a)    Ensure safe working practices are adhered to in line with current safe systems of work.

b)    Carry out regular safety audits and raise & action appropriate SIOs (Safety Improvement Opportunities)

c)    Comply with all Company Health & Safety regulations and utilise associated systems and procedures

 

a) Zero lost time accidents – No dangerous occurrences

b) Complete and record/report a minimum number of each, as set and agreed with line management, per year.

c) Observe all H&S Regulations, including fire, security and local notifications.  Report all accidents and incidents in line with company policies

2. Customer Service

  • Provide Technical Sales Service and Support to customers
  • Product Trials
  • Site stock levels
  • Raise RFQ’s, FBR’s and CCAR’s
  • Placing orders
  • To work professionally, ensuring service is of the highest quality and within any agreed timescale
  • Opportunities are identified, and trials are implemented. Arrange the execution of trials. Trials are monitored, and feedback is regular, accurate and sufficient to assist in product development
  • Site stock levels are maintained, and workers are kept informed of requirements to satisfy JIT deliveries. Be responsible for consignment stock control where applicable
  • All documentation is completed in line with company procedures
  • Ensure orders have all necessary information in accordance with the correct review procedures
3.  Business Development

  • Look for opportunities to grow the business
  • Company profile
  • Customers’ needs are identified and developed into sales opportunities
  • The company profile is positive and has increased within the marketplace
4.  Financial Control

  • Preparation of annual sales budget and identification of sales targets
  • Achieve budgeted sales
  • Use of resources
  • Assist in the collection of debt
  • Realistic yet stretching targets are identified
  • Sales targets are achieved.  Any issues are identified early so that remedial action can be taken
  • Improve company profitability through the thoughtful use of resources available.  Identify additional resources that may contribute to improved productivity/profitability
  • Work with credit control and customers in resolving any debt issues
5.  Communication

  • Reports
  • Feedback to the line manager
  • All necessary reports are provided to the company and the customer within the agreed timescales
  • Communicate regularly with the line manager on business activities and opportunities

Qualifications

  • Technical qualification (HNC or equivalent) preferred, but qualification by experience accepted
  • Valid full EU driving license or equivalent

Experience (number of years, seniority level, nature)

  • At least 3 years’ experience in technical support of refractory product categories, with a sales bias
  • Good general knowledge of the iron and steel business and refractory competition
  • Proficient in using ICT equipment and systems, particularly Microsoft Office programmes

Expertise areas

  • Ability to meet new people, either in person or via telephone, and quickly establish rapport
  • Ability to present technical issues both in 1:1 and many environments
  • Team player; ability to effectively communicate and work together with people in a matrix environment, and ability to gain support from team members in other functions and departments
  • Self-starter; able to work independently and provide supervision and guidance when required to more junior sales engineers
  • Must be willing and able to travel with occasional nights away
