Assistant Technician

Humber Recruitment are currently resourcing an Assistant Technician for a client of ours based in Grimsby on a full-time basis.

Business Unit: Operations

Reports To: Purchasing & Logistics Technician

Purpose/Key Objective:

To perform warehouse duties, including receiving deliveries and despatching orders, stock control and record keeping.

Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality (SHEQ) requirements:

•  Complies with the Company and statutory requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act section 7, as well as the environment
• Co-operates in ensuring the health, safety and welfare of themselves, colleagues and visitors (e.g. customers, contractors) whilst at work
• Co-operates via communication, consultation and participation in the SHEQ management systems
• Co-operates in protecting resources by minimising energy usage, waste and emissions to benefit the planet.

Principal Accountabilities/Critical Objectives:

• FLT Driver
• Receive deliveries of goods and supplies
• Check for damaged or missing items
• Store goods
• Move stock around by hand, palletiser, or a forklift truck
• Pick, prepare and check orders
• Load goods
• Keep records of stock
• Keep paperwork up to date
• Clean work area
• Routine cleaning of warehouse floors on a weekly basis or as necessary
• Daily checking of forklift equipment for faults or damage
• Ad hoc duties as required.

Knowledge, Experience & Qualifications:

• Counterbalance forklift qualification
• Desirable to have experience in a warehousing/factory role involving a continuous production line
• Equivalent of GCSE in English and Maths
• Aware of health and safety regulations
• Good organisational skills
• A methodical and tidy approach
• Flexible and willing to take on a variety of tasks
• Team player
• The ability to work quickly, accurately and safely
