Humber Recruitment are resourcing a Cook for a new client of ours based in Grimsby.
Responsible to: Manager
Responsible for: Providing nutritional meals to residents
Main function of job
- In liaison with the nurses, implement a varied and nutritional menu for the clients
- Liaise with dieticians regarding food options
- To liaise with the residents to establish their preferences
- To provide special diets as per care plan instructions
- To ensure a good supply of food is held within the home, which offers a choice of meals
- To ensure the kitchen and relevant areas are maintained safely and that health and safety is adhered to at all times
- To ensure kitchen staff are aware of the regulations regarding the kitchen and food preparation
- To ensure that meals are delivered on time
- To ensure that every step is taken to help eliminate cross contamination of food
- To record temperatures and maintain the efficiency of fridges and freezers
- To ensure that food temperatures are monitored and recorded
- Overseeing the kitchen assistants and their responsibilities
- To provide home baking
Duties/Responsibilities
- Maintain a professional manner at all times
- To be aware of health and safety issues and act safely at all times
- To be aware of the COSHH regulations
- To be aware of and adhere to the policies and procedures in place
- To be competent in the completion of relevant records and documentation
- Maintain confidentiality at all times
- To provide varied and nutritional meals
- To provide special diets where required
- Availability of food within the home
- Monitoring costs and liaising with suppliers
- Ensuring that anybody entering the kitchen is authorised to do so and adheres to the policies and procedures
These duties are not exhaustive and you may be required to carry out additional duties as required. The job description may be subject to review and change from time to time in response to changing circumstances. The nature of the position requires flexibility and involves working on public holidays.
Requirements to carry out job
- NVQ Level 2 in Food Hygiene Certificate
- To be able to work on own as well as part of a team
- To be able to ensure that good practices are in place
- Maintain documentation. Deliver a varied and nutritional menu
- To update knowledge by attending mandatory training
- Excellent communication skills
- Knowledge of managing budgets
- Friendly outgoing manner
- Approachable and conscientious whilst carrying out duties
- Good telephone manner
- Carry out duties within the COSHH regulations
- Adhere to Health & Safety at all times
- Working in different locations as required in accordance with Client needs
