Humber Recruitment is resourcing a Designer/Draftsman for our new client based in Grimsby with a start date as soon as possible.

The Role:

To work within a team specialising in temperature-controlled environments and internal composite fire walls. The role will involve designing, detailing and material scheduling for multiple projects. Experience in the cold store industry would be highly beneficial but not essential as the candidate will work alongside our Design Manager, with training and guidance provided.

Day-to-day requirements and duties:

  • To work alongside the design team in progressing construction details and material scheduling.
  • To further develop, enhance and improve the design procedures and systems.
  • The updating and issuing of design registers in line with construction programmes.
  • Be able to sit in and report on design team meetings with clients and other contractors.
  • Be able to keep the highest levels of confidentiality. Non-disclosure forms will be required to be signed onto.
  • Have a full understanding of material delivery requirements, lead times and restrictions to keep to programme.
  • To liaise with the Contracts Manager and Project Director to ensure that drawing updates and amendments are picked up and passed on to the wider team.
  • An understanding of materials used within construction drawings and details is preferable.
  • Attend client onsite progress meetings and report and record fully with regard to these.

Experience and knowledge requirements:

  • Must have experience using Revit software.
  • IT literate and an understanding of other software systems such as AutoCAD.
  • Be able to manage the design and material scheduling delivery to keep on the programme and be able to work alongside the project team to achieve this.
  • A basic understanding of what BIM360 is. (Full training will be provided)
  • Knowledge and experience of production/material scheduling methods and work processes.
  • Confidence in participating in design team meetings and internal project review meetings.
  • Be proactive in revising systems of work to be more efficient.
  • Good standard of literacy and numeracy.
  • A problem-solving approach to tasks given.
  • Good communication skills, telephone manners and email etiquette.

The Designer needs to be someone who has a proactive attitude with a desire to achieve. The role is busy, diverse and fast-paced so you will need to be highly organised. Targets will need to be met; good time management is essential.
