Humber Recruitment are resourcing an Electrical and Instrumentation (E and I) Designer for Allied Protek, a leading provider of engineering services and solutions across the UK, which is actively seeking to expand its current team.

 

Job Overview

The successful E and I candidate will be working within a small team of multi-disciplined engineers, becoming responsible for developing electrical and instrumentation design drawings, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and collaborating with engineers and project teams to deliver high-quality solutions.

This is a full-time position, based in Allied Protek’s Grimsby offices with occasional travel.

  • Creating detailed E&I designs, schematics, and layouts using CAD software (AutoCAD, EPLAN, etc.).
  • Develop wiring diagrams, loop diagrams, P&IDs, and panel layouts for industrial projects.
  • Assist in the selection of cables, instrumentation, control systems, and power distribution equipment.
  • Ensure designs comply with relevant industry standards (e.g. BS, IEC ATEX).
  • Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and site teams to ensure design accuracy.
  • Perform site surveys and incorporate field data into designs.
  • Provide technical support during project execution and commissioning.
  • Diploma/Degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of E&I design within the Oil & Gas or manufacturing industry.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, EPLAN, Trimble or similar design tools.
  • Strong knowledge of standards including IEC, BS, and ATEX.
  • Comp Ex 12 qualification advantageous.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving, and teamwork abilities.
  • UK driving licence.
