Humber Recruitment are currently resourcing an Electrical Commissioning Engineer for a high-value client of ours based in South Killingholme on an initial 12-month contract.

 

Basic purpose/accountabilities

  • Ensures that all high-voltage (HV) and low-voltage (LV) electrical systems and equipment are installed, tested, and verified to meet design specifications, safety standards, and operational requirements.
  • Primary purpose is to lead pre-commissioning (FAT) and commissioning (SAT) activities, troubleshoot issues, and confirm readiness for safe and reliable integration into existing infrastructure and unit startup.

Primary functions/responsibilities

  1. Develop commissioning plans and lead the execution of FAT and SAT procedures for HV and LV equipment and distribution systems.
  2. Provide technical support for project electrical Supervisors and Technicians.
  3. Coordinate and lead activities between the Client’s Electrical resources and OEM specialists.
  4. Track and resolve TQ’s within area of responsibility.
  5. Oversee safe execution of electrical work in the f ield by ensuring compliance to the Client’s HV & LV Safety Rules.
  6. Ensure accurate records are created for commissioning works including the red lining of work packs for as building.
  7. Establish reporting for commissioning activity progress.
  8. Deliver Client Authority to Commissioning processes for Electrical.

Critical skills

  • Experience in the commissioning of HV switchgear, transformers and protection devices.
  • Experience in the commissioning of Variable Speed Drives.
  • Extensive electrical experience within the Oil & Gas or Petrochem industries.
  • Prior Senior Authorised Person status desirable.
  • Great communicator, team player and self starter.

Essential Qualifications

  • Degree in electrical engineering or extensive experience working as an commissioning engineer.
  • Knowledge of Hazardous areas and types of protection
  • Knowledge of BS7671 Wiring Regulations
  • Knowledge of 11kV and 415V distribution systems
  • Knowledge of discipline specif ic commissioning practises.
