Humber Recruitment are pleased to be resourcing a Kitchen Assistant who will also assist the Domestic team when required for a new client of ours in Grimsby.

 

Main functions of the job (Kitchen)

  • To assist the cook in the preparation, cooking and delivering of meals
  • To liaise with the residents to establish their preferences
  • To assist in the provision of special diets as per the care plan instructions
  • To ensure the kitchen and relevant areas are maintained safely and that health and safety is adhered to at all times
  • To ensure all regulations regarding the kitchen and food preparation are adhered to
  • To ensure that meals are delivered on time
  • To ensure that every step is taken to help eliminate cross-contamination of food
  • To record temperatures and maintain the efficiency of fridges and freezers
  • To ensure that food temperatures are monitored and recorded

Main functions of the role (Domestic)

  • To assist with maintaining the cleanliness of the environment
  • To ensure that Health & Safety procedures are adhered to
  • To ensure cleaning schedules are followed
  • To ensure infection control procedures are followed
  • To ensure COSHH procedures are followed
  • To ensure colour coding practices are adhered to
  • To ensure that laundry procedures are adhered to
  • To ensure that items of laundry are correctly separated and the guidelines are followed
  • To ensure that all clients are treated with dignity
  • To ensure that all individuals’ wishes regarding laundry are followed

Main Duties

To be aware of the COSHH regulations. D
To be aware of and adhere to the policies and procedures in place. D
To be competent in the completion of relevant records and documentation. D
To maintain confidentiality at all times. D
To help provide varied and nutritious meals. D
To help provide special diets where required. D
Ensuring that anybody entering the kitchen is authorised to do so and adheres to the policies and procedures. I

These duties are not exhaustive and you may be required to carry out additional duties as required.  The job description is not definitive and may be subject to review and change from time to time in response to changing circumstances. The nature of the position requires flexibility. and involves working on public holidays.

To update knowledge by attending mandatory training.  To obtain NVQ level 2.  Basic food hygiene certificate. E

Excellent communication skills E
Personal characteristics required:
Friendly, outgoing manner, approachable and conscientious whilst carrying out duties E
Excellent telephone manner E
