Humber Recruitment are resourcing several Level 3 Early Years Practitioners for a brand-new Nursery and a new client of ours in Grimsby, on a full-time basis.
Job Overview
Hours: Full Time (40 hours per week, flexible shifts between 7:00am – 6:00pm)
Reporting To: Room Leader / Deputy Manager / Nursery Manager
Salary: Competitive – dependent on experience – Review of salaries as nursery expands
Purpose of the Role
To provide high-quality care and early education in accordance with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Statutory Framework, Ofsted requirements and North East Lincolnshire local authority guidance. The post holder will support children’s learning, development and wellbeing while ensuring safeguarding, inclusion and partnership with families remain central to practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare and deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate activities aligned with the EYFS.
- Act as a Key Person, building strong, secure attachments with allocated children and families.
- Complete accurate observations, assessments and next steps using the nursery’s tracking system.
- Promote inclusive practice and support children with SEND in partnership with the nursery SENCo and local authority services.
- Ensure children’s safety and well-being at all times in line with safeguarding policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate records including accident forms, medication records and safeguarding documentation.
- Work in partnership with parents through daily communication and scheduled meetings.
- Contribute to maintaining a safe, stimulating and enabling learning environment.
- Support apprentices, students and colleagues as required.
- Participate in staff meetings, supervision sessions and ongoing professional development.
Safeguarding & Compliance
The client is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. The successful candidate must demonstrate a clear understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and adhere to all policies and procedures.
- Enhanced DBS check required.
- Two satisfactory references.
- Right to work in the UK.
- Ongoing safeguarding and child protection training.
- Understanding of North East Lincolnshire safeguarding procedures.
Person Specification
Essential Qualifications:
- Full and relevant Level 3 qualification in Early Years/Childcare (DfE recognised).
- Paediatric First Aid (or willingness to obtain).
- Safeguarding training.
- GCSE Maths and English (Grade 4/C or above preferred).
Knowledge & Experience:
- Strong knowledge of the EYFS Statutory Framework.
- Understanding of child development from birth to five years.
- Experience working within an early years setting.
- Experience in planning, observation and assessment.
- Awareness of SEND and inclusive practice.
