Humber Recruitment are resourcing a Lift Supervisor/Steel Erector for our client in Liverpool on a temporary 6-8 contract.
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and safety-conscious Lift Supervisor / Steel Erector to oversee lifting operations and perform structural steel erection on construction sites. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of lifting plans, crane operations, and steel erection techniques, ensuring that all activities are carried out safely, efficiently, and in compliance with site regulations and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Lift Supervisor Duties:
• Supervise and coordinate all lifting operations on site.
• Ensure lifting activities are carried out in accordance with the lift plan and method statements.
• Conduct daily briefings and toolbox talks to communicate lifting procedures and safety measures.
• Monitor lifting equipment and ensure it is regularly inspected and certified.
• Liaise with crane operators, slinger/signallers, and site management to ensure clear communication and coordination.
• Maintain records of all lifting operations, incidents, and equipment inspections.
• Enforce site safety policies and stop any unsafe work practices immediately.
Steel Erector Duties:
• Assemble and erect structural steel components according to drawings and specifications
• Use cranes, MEWPs, and rigging equipment to safely lift and position steel elements
• Bolt, weld, or secure steel sections in place, checking alignment and structural integrity
• Interpret technical drawings and mark out steel structures accordingly
• Collaborate with engineers, site managers, and other trades on-site
• Ensure all steel erection activities comply with health and safety regulations
Skills & Qualifications:
• CPCS or NPORS Lift Supervisor Certification (required)
• CSCS card (required)
• NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Steel Erection or Structural Fabrication (preferred)
• Minimum 3 years of experience in steel erection and lifting operations
• Strong understanding of LOLER, PUWER, and other relevant safety regulations
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and lift plans
• Good communication and team coordination skills
• Physically fit and comfortable working at heights
Work Conditions:
• Outdoor construction sites in various weather conditions
• Working at heights and around heavy machinery
