Humber Recruitment are resourcing an MPC Quality Engineer for our valued client based in Immingham.
Job Description
The Quality Engineer will support the smooth operation of the workshop by checking that all work is carried out safely in line with the written processes or installation instructions. Report to the Workshop Supervisor any observations or problems that may arise when carrying out such duties.
Main Tasks / Responsibilities / Authorities:
- Efficacy of monitoring and improving Quality output within the MPC workshop via a proactive approach, along with leading investigations/responses to DDRs (Delivery Discrepancy Report) whilst working to achieve or improve on the KPI target set for the year
- Carry out 10% storage inspections and cascade as per process any observations requiring attention.
- Troubleshooting and fault finding on the full range of Volvo machines when required.
- To monitor, help, and assist MPC Engineers, informing them of correct methods of work, and ensuring their work is carried out to high standards.
- To ensure all machines are checked and tested with a keen eye to detail and high quality.
- To liaise with the Workshop Supervisor about work that is in progress and assist in ensuring the machines are completed to specific work schedules, within specified times and dates.
- To inform the Workshop Supervisor of any problems that may occur daily, including staff or workshop issues.
- To carry out any other duties as deemed necessary within the workshop area of responsibility by the Workshop Supervisor or Depot Manager.
- To conduct oneself in a courteous, orderly and responsible manner at all times. To observe and comply with company rules and conditions at all times.
- To operate at all times within the guidelines as laid down in the Health & Safety at Work Act and adhere to all COSHH regulations.
- To assist, wherever necessary, to keep the workplace in a high standard of cleanliness at all times.
- Work in accordance with the Client’s Commercial Vehicle Policy.
- To submit timesheets, correctly filled in on a daily basis.
- Submit the product-related PDI chain case as per the current process.
- Liaise with customers for pre-delivery inspections/sign off.
- Support Leading Hands with final checks where required.
- Random sign off, of contractor installs (removal of panels, etc).
Key Skills / Competencies:
- Relevant experience in the repair and maintenance of heavy construction plant, including proven technical competence on diesel engines, transmissions, drive lines, hydraulics and electronics.
- A formal engineering qualification in plant or HGV mechanics.
- Ability to undertake an investigation to ascertain the Root Cause and issue appropriate corrective actions to prevent recurrence
- Hold a full driving licence and good driving record.
- Work to high standards in all areas.
- Ability to work as part of a team and have good communication skills.
- Highly responsible, reliable, honest, trustworthy and a good timekeeper.
- Cheerful, co-operative and flexible at all times.
- Possesses high housekeeping standards.
- Ability to understand technical literature, including service bulletins and parts books
- Present monthly KPI to the management team and hold feedback and Toolbox talks regarding any corrective actions.
