The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Project Manager to join a growing engineering and project delivery business, taking responsibility for a range of projects from initial tender through to successful completion and handover.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys taking ownership, working closely with clients and seeing projects progress from concept and planning through to fabrication, site delivery and completion.
You will have the opportunity to work across multidisciplinary projects, collaborate with experienced engineering and delivery teams, and play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, commercially and to a high standard.
Why Join Allied Protek?
This is an opportunity to join a business where Project Managers have genuine ownership of their projects and can make a visible contribution to the success of the organisation.
We offer an environment where you can:
- Take ownership of projects from tender through to completion rather than focusing on just one stage of delivery.
- Work on varied engineering, fabrication and industrial projects, providing plenty of technical and commercial variety.
- Build strong relationships with clients and become a key part of their project delivery team.
- Work closely with experienced Engineering, Commercial, Procurement, Quality and SHEQ professionals.
- Have direct involvement in project planning, commercial management, procurement, fabrication, construction and commissioning.
- Develop your experience across both project delivery and tendering/pre-contract activities.
- Have the opportunity to influence how projects are planned and delivered.
- Work in a practical, collaborative environment where initiative and accountability are valued.
- Develop your career as the business continues to grow and take on new projects and opportunities.
About the Role
As Project Manager, you will take responsibility for managing projects from contract award through to final handover.
You will be responsible for establishing project plans and programmes, managing budgets and resources, coordinating multiple disciplines and maintaining clear communication with clients and delivery teams.
The role will involve working across the full project lifecycle, including engineering, procurement, fabrication, construction, site activities, commissioning and close-out.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage projects from contract award through to completion and client handover.
- Develop and maintain detailed project programmes, budgets and delivery plans.
- Coordinate engineering, procurement, fabrication, construction and commissioning activities.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, acting as a key point of contact throughout the project.
- Lead project meetings and provide regular updates on progress, financial performance, risks and opportunities.
- Monitor project costs, programme, resources and overall performance.
- Identify and manage project risks and opportunities throughout the delivery process.
- Manage changes in scope, variations and additional works.
- Coordinate internal departments, subcontractors and suppliers to ensure project requirements are achieved.
- Work closely with Commercial, Engineering, Procurement, Quality and SHEQ teams.
- Support site mobilisation and project delivery activities where required.
- Ensure contractual requirements, project documentation and client expectations are effectively managed.
- Drive projects through to completion, close-out and successful handover.
Tender & Pre-Contract Involvement
An important part of the position will be supporting the business during the tender and pre-contract stages.
You will:
- Assist with the preparation of tenders and proposals.
- Review project scopes, specifications, drawings and associated documentation.
- Provide input into estimates, programmes, methodologies and resource requirements.
- Identify key risks, assumptions, exclusions and potential delivery challenges.
- Support tender meetings and client discussions where required.
- Help ensure a smooth and well-planned transition from tender to project delivery.
About You
We are looking for a Project Manager with a practical approach and a strong understanding of engineering and project delivery.
You will ideally have experience managing projects within an engineering, fabrication, construction or industrial environment, with the confidence to coordinate multiple disciplines and communicate effectively with clients, subcontractors and suppliers.
You should also have:
- Proven experience managing projects from start to finish.
- A good understanding of engineering, fabrication and site activities.
- Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and projects.
- Strong commercial awareness, including cost control and variation management.
- Experience contributing to tenders, estimates or proposals.
- Strong organisational and planning skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- The confidence to identify issues, make decisions and take ownership.
Qualifications
A relevant qualification in engineering, construction, project management or a related discipline would be preferred.
However, relevant industry experience and a proven track record of successful project delivery will be equally valued.
What You’ll Bring
You will be someone who enjoys being close to the detail while keeping sight of the bigger picture. You will be commercially aware, organised and proactive, with the ability to manage competing priorities and keep projects moving.
Most importantly, you will take ownership of your work, communicate openly and build strong relationships with the people around you.
The Package
In addition to the opportunity to work on varied and technically interesting projects, we aim to provide a working environment where people can develop, contribute and progress.
The successful candidate can expect:
- A varied project portfolio with genuine responsibility and ownership.
- Exposure to the complete project lifecycle.
- The opportunity to work alongside experienced engineering and project professionals.
- A collaborative and practical working environment.
- Opportunities to develop both project management and commercial skills.
- The chance to contribute to the continued growth and success of the business.
- A role where your contribution and results are visible and valued.
