Humber Recruitment are resourcing a Public Law (Care) Solicitor for a new, national client of ours, with multiple locations across the country.
Location: Multiple offices – Hull, Scunthorpe, Grimsby, Newcastle, York, London, Beverley, Willerby, Truro, Lincoln, Peterborough, Doncaster.
Position Overview: As a Public Law (Care) Solicitor, you will play a vital role in handling public law matters with a focus on care cases. This role requires a qualified solicitor with at least 2 years PQE, possessing in-depth knowledge of the Children’s Act, particularly in the context of public law. Membership of the children panel is preferable, or a commitment to becoming a member. The successful candidate should be a competent advocate in the Magistrates and County Court, experienced in managing their own caseload with oversight, and willing to collaborate as a team player.
Responsibilities:
- Handle public law (care) cases, with a focus on matters related to the Children’s Act.
- Provide legal advice and representation to clients in Magistrates and County Court.
- Act as an advocate in court proceedings, demonstrating competence and expertise.
- Manage and oversee your own caseload, ensuring effective case management.
- Collaborate with other professionals within the firm, covering work for colleagues when necessary.
Requirements:
- Qualified solicitor with at least 2 years PQE (candidates less than 2 years PQE will be considered based on experience).
- In-depth knowledge of the Children’s Act, emphasising public law aspects.
- Membership of the children panel is preferable, or a commitment to becoming a member.
- Competent advocate in the Magistrates and County Court.
- Higher Courts Advocate qualification is preferable but not essential.
- Experience in managing your own caseload, with the ability to work with oversight.
- Team player mentality, willing to cover work for colleagues as needed.
