Humber Recruitment are resourcing a Senior HR Advisor for our Grimsby and Skegness based client.

 

Job Purpose

Working in partnership with an HR Business Partner to provide key stakeholders with highly effective and commercial HR advice and support to client Academies.

The Senior HR Advisor will support with the delivery of the full remit of HR advice and support within the overall People Strategy, as well as tactical delivery of performance management, employee engagement, recruitment and retention, reward and recognition, training, employee relations activities, TUPE, policy development and restructuring.

Effective relationship management and excellent interpersonal skills are key to the role. The individual is expected to work very closely with senior academy staff and staff within central services team functions and the wider HR team.

The Senior HR Advisor will cover and support academies in a nominated geographical area but may also be called upon to provide support across other areas, as necessary.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Work in partnership with the HR Business Partner in all academies in the specified geographical area(s)
  • Develop effective relationships with key stakeholders: School Principals, shared services and education support/operations teams
  • Utilising KPI data to drive and embed change, ensuring consistent approach to methods of working across the Trust Management of a case load including Absence, Disciplinary and Grievance proceedings.

Main Areas of Responsibility and Accountability 

Advice & Support

  • Provide first-line advice ensuring management of staff is fair and consistent, in line with Trust policy and procedures, and legally compliant, ensuring minimal risk to the business
  • Support Disciplinary and Grievance cases, liaising with stakeholders during process
  • Work with the HR support team to ensure delivery of an excellent HR service to our stakeholders
  • With HR Business Partner guidance, manage relationships with Trade Union representatives
  • Assist in the update of Trust policies, procedures and documentation, as required, to ensure compliance with current Employment Legislation and overall business needs
  • Support the HR Business Partner with the preparation and management of Employment Tribunal cases, as required.

Absence Management

  • Advise managers within nominated regions on the process for managing lateness and short-term absence, utilising KPI data to monitor and improve absence levels
  • Advise on the process for managing long-term absence issues, working in partnership with stakeholders and, where necessary, arrange Occupation Health assessments
  • If required, conduct home visits for highly sensitive cases, making recommendations and decisions on Return to Work, Medical Dismissal or Redeployment

Redundancy and TUPE

  • Support the HR Business Partner during consultations with management and staff as appropriate in redundancy, TUPE, restructuring and redeployment situations and carry out the required process and administration

General

  • Assist the HR team with the implementation of key HR Projects in line with the HR Strategy, for example, Equality, Diversity & Inclusion, Health & Well-Being, Retention & Reward and Job

Evaluation

  • Produce periodic reports and analysis as required, including monthly KPI reports
  • Attend HR Meetings as well as regional meetings on a regular basis to provide updates on HR activity, ensuring effective communication between HR and the academies
  • Keep abreast of developments in employment legislation and practice, implementing and advising on changes as necessary
  • Providing excellent customer service in line with SLA standards, procedures and guidelines (applies to self and the team)
  • Maintain a high degree of engagement and enthusiasm
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable company policies and procedures
  • Ensure clear and consistent communication with other team members

Knowledge/Skills/Experience

Demonstrable experience of policy implementation and knowledge and continued development of initiatives in Equality, Diversity and Inclusion; Health and Well-Being and Retention and Reward
