Humber Recruitment are resourcing a Senior Preschool Room Leader (3–5 Years) for a brand-new Nursery and a new client of ours in Grimsby, on a full-time basis.
Hours: Full Time – 40 hours per week, flexible shifts between 7:00am – 6:00pm
Purpose of the Role
The Senior Preschool Room Leader (3–5 Years) is responsible for leading high-quality care and education for children aged 3–5 years. The post holder will lead the room team, ensure compliance with the EYFS framework, and maintain a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment that supports children’s development.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support practitioners within the room.
- Act as a Key Person and oversee Key Person practice across the room.
- Ensure planning and assessment are accurate and purposeful.
- Maintain high standards of safeguarding and welfare.
- Monitor children’s progress and identify any additional needs.
- Maintain a safe, clean and engaging learning environment.
- Communicate effectively with parents and management.
- Support staff supervision and contribute to performance development.
Age-Specific Expectations
- Prepare children for school readiness.
- Embed early phonics and early maths opportunities.
- Promote independence and self-care skills.
- Support emotional regulation and peer relationships.
- Ensure transition records are completed for the school.
Safeguarding
- Ensure safeguarding procedures are consistently followed.
- Report concerns immediately to the Designated Safeguarding Lead.
- Promote secure attachments and emotional well-being.
Person Specification
Essential Criteria
- Full and relevant Level 3 Early Years qualification.
- Experience working within the relevant age group.
- Experience leading or mentoring staff.
- Strong knowledge of the EYFS framework.
- Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities.
Desirable Criteria
- Paediatric First Aid qualification.
- Experience supporting SEND.
- Experience contributing to curriculum planning.
