Humber Recruitment are pleased to be resourcing a Service & Installation Engineer for a client of ours based in Hull on a full-time basis.

 

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Service Engineer with a strong mechanical and pneumatic background to join our growing team.

This is a varied role combining field service activities, including installation, commissioning, servicing and maintenance of specialist food depositing machinery at customer sites throughout the UK and overseas with workshop-based machine assembly.

The successful candidate will be a practical, customer-focused engineer who enjoys problem-solving and takes pride in delivering a high standard of workmanship. While the role is predominantly mechanical based, a basic understanding of electrical systems would be beneficial.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and rectify mechanical and pneumatic faults efficiently.
  • Carry out planned servicing, preventative maintenance and breakdown repairs.
  • Install, commission and test equipment at customer sites.
  • Complete service reports and technical documentation accurately.
  • Deliver customer training on the safe operation and routine maintenance of equipment.
  • Plan and manage your own service schedule to meet customer requirements.
  • Work closely with the Engineering and Production teams to identify product improvements and report recurring issues.
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with company health and safety procedures.
  • Assemble and build a range of food depositing machinery within our workshop.

About You

​You will have:

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a mechanical engineering or service engineering role.
  • Strong mechanical and pneumatic fault-finding skills.
  • The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical manuals.
  • Excellent communication skills with a professional and customer-focused approach.
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to manage your own workload.
  • Willing to travel throughout the UK and internationally.
  • Experience working at customer sites within the UK or internationally.
  • A full UK driving licence.

Desirable

  • ​Basic knowledge of electrical systems.
  • Previous experience installing or servicing food processing or automated machinery.

Working Pattern

  • Based at our Head Office in Hull.
  • Regular travel to customer sites across the UK.
  • Occasional overseas travel.
  • Flexibility to work outside normal hours when required for installations, commissioning or emergency customer support.
