Humber Recruitment are pleased to be resourcing 2 Instrument Technicians for Allied Protek based in Grimsby on a full-time basis.
We are currently recruiting an experienced Instrument Technician based in Grimsby. The successful candidate will work within a small team of Electrical and Instrument Engineers, delivering engineering solutions for large-scale industrial projects within the process industry.
The role will involve providing technical support, engineering expertise, and maintenance solutions across multiple departments, ensuring safe and efficient operation of instrumentation and control systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out installation, maintenance, calibration, testing, and fault-finding on a wide range of instrumentation and control equipment
- Support engineering design activities for instrumentation and control systems
- Assist with commissioning, loop checking, and start-up activities
- Interpret and work from engineering documentation
- Ensure compliance with BS EN60079, ATEX, and hazardous area regulations
- Carry out intrinsically safe (IS) calculations and verification activities where required
- Participate in Management of Change (MOC) processes and engineering reviews
- Provide technical guidance and support to operations and maintenance teams
- Support shutdowns, plant upgrades, and continuous improvement projects
- Prepare technical reports, maintenance records, and engineering documentation
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with company safety procedures and industry best practices
Experience & Qualifications
- ONC or NVQ Level 3 in Instrumentation or Electrical
- CompEx qualifications desirable
- Previous experience in a similar Instrument Technician role within the oil & gas, petrochemical, chemical, or process industries is preferred
- Experience working in hazardous area environments is desirable
- Strong knowledge of instrumentation calibration, maintenance, and control systems
- Experience with PLCs, DCS, SCADA, and industrial communication systems would be advantageous
- Experience with management of change procedures and permit-to-work systems
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary engineering team
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Full UK driving licence preferred
