Senior Electrical Engineer

Humber Recruitment are currently seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to work on a contract for a high-value client in North Hertfordshire with full-time hours.

Availability – 5 days full-time on-site support – Call-out support also required

The Role

We are looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead the electrical function across our client’s site in North Hertfordshire, ensuring safe, reliable and compliant operation of the electrical infrastructure and distribution network. The role covers both HV (11kV) and LV systems and includes responsibility for maintenance, operations, statutory compliance, upgrades and asset integrity.

You will act as the site Duty Holder and Responsible Electrical Person (REP), providing technical leadership to maintenance, reliability and project teams. The role is a mix of site and office-based work and involves accessing electrical equipment across the site, including stairs and ladders.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead electrical safety and the safe operation and maintenance of site electrical systems.
• Manage statutory compliance, inspections, remedial actions and electrical safety documentation.
• Compile and carry out HV switching schedules and set protection parameters.
• Oversee ATEX 137 and DSEAR inspection and compliance requirements in hazardous areas.
• Maintain electrical competency, authorisation and training requirements for the site team.
• Act as the electrical Subject Matter Expert for design, projects, troubleshooting and incident response.
• Oversee the HV infrastructure and develop improvement plans, working with project teams to deliver compliant solutions.
• Drive energy management, metering improvements and practical sustainability initiatives.
• Keep up to date with electrical technologies, standards and industry best practice.

About You

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent; Chartered status is advantageous.
• 10+ years’ industrial electrical engineering experience, including HV.
• Experience holding SAEP status for an HV network.
• Knowledge of DSEAR and ATEX regulations; CompEx 14 qualification is desirable.
• Experience working within HSE frameworks, to at least IOSH level.
• Able to manage multiple priorities and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Proficient with Microsoft applications, including Project, Excel, PowerPoint and Word, plus AutoCAD.
• Experience developing engineering standards and producing technical engineering reports.
