Humber Recruitment are resourcing an Engineering Delivery Manager for a new client of ours based in Grimsby on a full-time contract.

 

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Delivery Manager to join our client’s growing team in Grimsby. This is a key opportunity to own complex engineering projects and lead their successful delivery from initial concept through commissioning and handover.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will lead multidisciplinary engineering teams, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on time, within budget, and to the required technical and quality standards.

You will play a pivotal role in translating client requirements into robust engineering solutions, managing project performance and driving continuous improvement throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take overall responsibility for the delivery of engineering projects from concept and design through to commissioning and final handover.
  • Ensure all engineering activities meet applicable legislation, standards, regulations and industry best practice, including COMAH and CDM requirements.
  • Interpret client requirements and develop practical, technically sound and commercially viable engineering solutions.
  • Provide technical leadership, direction and assurance across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Manage project scope, budgets, resources and programmes to achieve successful project outcomes.
  • Identify and deliver opportunities for value engineering, efficiency and continuous improvement.
  • Work closely with Procurement and key suppliers to ensure equipment, materials and services meet technical and project requirements.
  • Collaborate with Construction teams to address design, installation and constructability issues effectively.
  • Manage external contractors, consultants and engineering partners, ensuring quality, performance and compliance.
  • Lead technical reviews, risk assessments and HAZID/HAZOP studies, ensuring risks are identified and appropriately controlled.
  • Monitor project performance against agreed KPIs, taking timely corrective action where required.
  • Support business development activities and contribute to the development and maintenance of strong client relationships.
  • Coach and mentor junior engineers, supporting the development of technical capability within the wider team.

What We’re Looking For

  • A degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Demonstrable experience managing engineering projects, ideally within industrial, process or similarly complex engineering environments.
  • Strong understanding of engineering design, project delivery lifecycles and technical assurance.
  • Experience working under recognised contract frameworks such as NEC or IChemE.
  • Good knowledge of UK engineering legislation and regulatory requirements, particularly COMAH and CDM.
  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to coordinate and motivate multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong commercial awareness, including experience managing project budgets and financial performance.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Confident communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with clients, suppliers and project teams.
  • A proactive, practical and hands-on approach, with the flexibility to thrive in a fast-paced project environment.
